During his State Visit to Seychelles, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the country's highest honour, "Guardian of the Blue Horizon". He also attended Seychelles' 50th Independence Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour, the first Indian Prime Minister to do so. Seychelles became independent from the United Kingdom on 29 June 1976, and 2026 also marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles.
