PM Modi Inaugurates Samrat Samprati Museum and Kaynes Semiconductor Plant in Gujarat
Heritage Meets High-Tech: PM Modi’s Landmark Inaugurations in Gujarat
In a day celebrating both India’s ancient spiritual heritage and its future-ready technological ambitions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two major projects in Gujarat on March 31, 2026: the Samrat Samprati Museum and the Kaynes Semiconductor Plant.
Samrat Samprati Museum: Preserving Jain Legacy
Located at Koba Tirth, Gandhinagar, the museum was opened on the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. It is dedicated to the history of Jainism and the legacy of Emperor Samprati, the grandson of Ashoka, who is revered for his efforts in spreading Jainism across India.
- Structure: The museum features seven grand galleries showcasing rare relics, stone and metal idols, ancient manuscripts, and silver chariots.
- Experience: It blends traditional artifacts with modern digital and audio-visual installations to offer an immersive journey through Jain philosophy and art.
- Support: Conceived by Acharya Padmasagarsurishwarji, the project was supported by the UNM Foundation of the Torrent Group.
Kaynes Semiconductor Plant: A Leap Toward Self-Reliance
Furthering the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Prime Minister inaugurated the Kaynes Semicon OSAT facility at Sanand GIDC, Ahmedabad. This βΉ3,300 crore project marks a significant milestone in India's chip manufacturing journey.
- Advanced Manufacturing: The plant will produce Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs), which are vital for automotive electronics (especially EVs) and industrial power switching systems.
- Global Supply Chain: With an eventual capacity of 6.33 million units per day, the facility bridges the gap between Sanand and Silicon Valley, supplying high-tech components to global markets.
- Significance: It is India’s second OSAT unit to enter the production phase and the first by an Indian-origin electronics manufacturing player.
For TNPSC and competitive exam aspirants, these developments highlight the dual focus on "Vikas" (Development) and "Virasat" (Heritage) in modern India.
