PM-DHARA (PM-Developing Harmonized and Accelerated Renewable-energy Access) has received the Union Cabinet's nod to strengthen transmission networks within States. By FY 2032–33 it aims to enable the evacuation of as much as 135 GW of renewable power. The Centre will provide ₹54,082 crore to cover intra-State transmission charges and keep power tariffs low. To make the grid flexible and cope with variable solar and wind output, storage capacity of 50 GWh in the form of battery systems (BESS) is to be installed. The scheme serves energy security, storage and a smaller carbon footprint, supporting India's goal of 900 GW of installed non-fossil capacity by 2035.
