The Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY) is a scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment aimed at improving the socio-economic and educational condition of Scheduled Caste communities. As of 8 September 2026, 18,093 villages under it had been declared Adarsh Grams. Coverage so far extends to over 47,200 villages, benefiting over 47.79 lakh people, and 46,944 development works have been completed. From 2021–22 to 2025–26, nearly ₹1,730 crore was released to States as Grants-in-Aid, supporting livelihood and skill development for more than 2.5 lakh beneficiaries. PM-AJAY has three components: development of Adarsh Grams, Grants-in-Aid towards socio-economic projects, and construction and repair of hostels for students.
