India's Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2026 is expected to gather separate data on digital and platform workers for the first time, covering food delivery executives, drivers and home-service providers. Their earnings, working hours and working conditions will be recorded on an experimental basis, though such workers will continue to be counted within the broader self-employed category. Results are due in March 2027. The data will help the government design welfare policies and implement the provisions of the Social Security Code.
