Paninian India Unveils 'Yantur', India's First Private-Sector Turbofan Engine Programme

Save
Paninian India Private Ltd, a company based in Hyderabad, has unveiled Yantur, the first turbofan engine development programme in India to be led by the private sector. The engine is designed to produce 4.5 kilo Newton (kN) of thrust and is being built for the Svayatt L1, a long-range autonomous cruise missile platform. Turbofan engines are more fuel-efficient than simple turbojets, which allows missiles to fly longer distances. The programme marks a step towards private industry contributing to indigenous aero-engine technology for defence.
