Oil India Limited has discovered a new natural gas zone in the Dandewala Field of Jaisalmer district in western Rajasthan. This is the first successful gas discovery in the shallow Sanu Formation. The find adds to the hydrocarbon prospects of the Rajasthan basin and supports efforts to raise domestic natural gas production and reduce import dependence.
