The Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying launched the Pashudhan Bima (Livestock Insurance) Portal in New Delhi. It offers one digital platform for policy issuance, claim processing, monitoring and reporting under the Livestock Insurance Scheme, part of the National Livestock Mission. The scheme gives subsidised cover for cattle, pigs and rabbits; small and marginal farmers pay 15% of the premium, with the Centre and states sharing 85%. In the latest five years, 60.8 lakh animals were insured and ₹161.07 crore in claims released. RFID tagging for identification is under consideration.
