Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd has made India's first Port of Refuge (PoR) facilities operational at its Dighi and Gopalpur ports. A Port of Refuge is a designated location where a ship in distress can take shelter so that lives at sea and the marine environment are protected. Such facilities allow damaged or troubled vessels to be brought to a safe place quickly, reducing the risk of accidents, oil spills and loss of cargo along India's coastline.
