Rajya Sabha MP P. Wilson introduced a private member's Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2026, proposing reservation in appointments to the Supreme Court and High Courts. It seeks representation for SCs, STs, OBCs, religious minorities and women in proportion to their population, and a 90-day deadline for the Centre to notify collegium recommendations. It also proposes regional Supreme Court benches at New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. Judges are currently appointed through the collegium system, which emerged from the Second Judges Case (1993).
