Telangana now has India's first commercial rainbow trout farm in a tropical climate. The Smart Green Aquaculture Farm and Research Institute is at Kandukur mandal in Ranga Reddy district. Rainbow trout normally grows only in cold Himalayan waters, but this farm uses a Recirculatory Aquaculture System that keeps water conditions controlled, so the fish can be raised all year. It will also train people in modern fish farming.
