To monitor the quality of National Highway projects, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has rolled out Mobile Quality Control Vans. They are being tried out first in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka and Odisha as a pilot. Each van is fitted with non-destructive testing equipment, including ultrasonic pulse velocity meters and rebound hammers. Alongside the vans, the ministry is developing a National Highway Quality Monitoring Portal that will offer real-time GPS tracking, with the aim of making highway construction safer and more durable.
