The nationwide Mission for Aatmanirbharta (Self-Reliance) in Pulses was launched from Amlaha in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh. Announced in the Union Budget 2025-26, it runs from 2025-26 to 2030-31 with an outlay of Rs 11,440 crore. The mission aims to make India self-sufficient in pulses and cut imports by supporting seed development, cluster-based farming, processing mills and market access. Pulses are a major protein source in the Indian diet, and India has long relied on imports to meet domestic demand.
