The Ministry of Railways has rolled out the Reform Express Initiative, a policy framework to modernise Indian Railways and make freight and passenger services more efficient. It stresses technology, transparency, ease of doing business and cutting logistics costs. Reforms include advanced containers for salt transport, stricter rules for contractors, Aadhaar OTP-based ticket verification, flexible boarding and class upgrades, and optimised wagons for carrying automobiles. Fake IRCTC accounts are being removed and steps taken to curb corruption in bidding.
