Personnel of the Military Nursing Service (MNS) are now formally counted as ex-servicemen after the Centre amended the Ex-servicemen (Re-employment in Central Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 2026, using its powers under Article 309. The change clears up earlier uncertainty about whether MNS officers were eligible for these benefits. Retired MNS members are now entitled to 10% reservation in Group C posts and 20% in Group D posts of the Central Government. They also receive age relaxation equal to the number of years they served in the military, plus an additional three years.
