Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Eri silk weaving at Nongpoh in Ri-Bhoi district. The centre aims to preserve the traditional craft and pass it on to future generations while promoting skill development and innovation in weaving and handloom. Eri silk, locally called Ryndia, is a traditional handwoven textile of Meghalaya whose colours, patterns and designs reflect the State's cultural identity.
