Meghalaya has become the 12th state to sign a reform-based Memorandum of Understanding under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0. JJM seeks to provide functional household tap water connections in rural areas, and its second phase emphasises service delivery, sustainability and decentralised water management. The MoU strengthens the role of Gram Panchayats and Village Water and Sanitation Committees in running local water supply. Meghalaya has already achieved over 83% rural tap water coverage under the mission.
