The Lok Sabha Speaker has reconstituted four major Parliamentary Committees for 2026-27: the Public Accounts Committee, the Estimates Committee, the Committee on Public Undertakings, and the Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Parliamentary Committees are groups of MPs formed to examine the working of the government and keep the executive accountable. They are broadly of two types: Standing Committees, which are permanent bodies such as the Financial Committees and Departmentally Related Standing Committees, and Ad hoc Committees set up for specific tasks. They scrutinise bills, policies, government performance and public sector undertakings in detail.
