Ladakh Gets High Court Bench in Leh, About 3,500 Metres above Sea Level

Save

The Union Territory of Ladakh now has a High Court bench at Leh, situated around 3,500 metres above sea level. It functions under the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, originally set up on 26 March 1928 and renamed after Ladakh was made a separate Union Territory in 2019. The bench is meant to bring justice closer to residents of Ladakh's remote, mountainous areas. The Supreme Court also plans to list Ladakh matters together on one day and hear them by video conferencing when adequate facilities become available.
