The Jonnagiri Gold Mine in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, has started commercial operations.
Run by Geomysore Services India Pvt Ltd, it is India's only private-sector primary gold mine since Independence. The mine lies in the Rayalaseema region and had begun trial production in May 2026 before moving to commercial operations. The development is significant for India's domestic gold output, which is small compared with the country's large demand for the metal.
