The International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems (IPES-Food) has released a report titled “A New Geopolitics of Food”. It says trade wars, military conflicts and weakening multilateral institutions are reshaping global food systems, and that food is increasingly used as a weapon of war and economic pressure in hunger hotspots. The report discusses Public Food Stockholding (PSH), under which governments buy, store and distribute food grains to ensure food security. In India, public stockholding supports the National Food Security Act, 2013 and is managed by the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
