The Budget unveiled an Integrated Textile Programme for the labour-intensive textile and apparel sector, whose allocation rose by nearly 25%. Its components include a National Fibre Scheme for man-made fibres, silk and wool, a Textile Expansion and Employment Scheme to modernise clusters, a National Handloom and Handicraft Programme, the Tex-Eco Initiative for sustainable textiles, SAMARTH 2.0 for skilling and Mega Textile Parks. The Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj Initiative will improve branding, global market links, training and quality for khadi, handloom and handicrafts, benefiting weavers, ODOP and rural youth.
