India's indigenous Kaveri dry engine recorded a peak dry thrust of 48.5 kilonewtons (kN) during recent high-altitude and flight trials conducted in Russia. The engine has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to power the Ghatak Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV). The milestone is a step forward in India's efforts to build its own aero-engines.
