Indian Railways has launched its 100th Vande Bharat trainset, marking a major milestone for the country's indigenous semi-high-speed train programme. This trainset was manufactured at the Modern Coach Factory and is fitted with a propulsion system supplied by Siemens. Vande Bharat trains are self-propelled, with motors distributed along the coaches instead of a separate locomotive, which allows faster acceleration. The first Vande Bharat trains were built at the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, and production has since expanded to other coach factories across the country.
