Under Operation Sagar Bandhu, the Indian Army has begun a major bridge project in Sri Lanka. The bridge will link the capital, Colombo, with the economic centre of Puttalam. Its purpose is to restore connectivity so that people, goods and essential services can move again between the two places. The project reflects India's role in providing assistance and infrastructure support to its neighbour.
