India has successfully test-fired the Agni-1 short-range ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha. Agni-1 belongs to the Agni family of indigenously developed ballistic missiles that form a key part of India's strategic deterrence. Such tests are carried out periodically to validate the operational readiness and reliability of missiles already in service with the armed forces.
