India has signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) with the United States to acquire the Javelin anti-tank guided missile system through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) route. The FGM-148 Javelin is a man-portable, fire-and-forget, medium-range missile used against armoured vehicles and fortified positions, made by the Javelin Joint Venture of RTX and Lockheed Martin. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) signed an agreement with the joint venture in February 2025 to explore co-production in India. The US cleared the potential sale in November 2025, covering 100 Javelin missiles and 216 Excalibur artillery projectiles under separate cases.
