Trade between India and China reached a historic USD 155.6 billion in 2025, growing by around 12% over the year. Indian exports to China rose by 9.7% during 2025. Separately, the Union Government signed an agreement with stakeholders to set up the Bharat Container Shipping Line (BCSL) to strengthen India's maritime logistics and reduce dependence on foreign shipping carriers. Container lines move most of India's export and import cargo.
