The Hemis Festival 2026 got under way at the Hemis Monastery in Leh, Ladakh. The festival is held every year on the 10th day of Tse-Chu, a month of the Tibetan lunar calendar. It commemorates the birth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava, who is also revered as Guru Rinpoche. The celebration is one of the best-known Buddhist cultural events of the Ladakh region and draws devotees and visitors to the monastery.
