The Department of Consumer Affairs flagged off the first-ever Kanda Express to Agartala, Tripura, loaded with about 440 metric tonnes of onions. The goal is to boost onion supply and keep prices in check ahead of the festive season. Through this initiative, onion buffer stocks held under the Price Stabilization Fund (PSF) are being distributed so that supply improves and onions remain affordable for consumers in the region.
