The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways launched the One Tag system on September 11, 2026, at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai. Similar to mobile number portability, it lets users digitally shift their FASTag to another issuing bank without replacing the physical tag, using the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app to link it with a new bank account. FASTag deducts tolls automatically using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). About 13 crore FASTags have been issued, and digital collection covers over 98% of national highway user fees.
