e-Zero FIR System: Over 12,000 Cyber Fraud Cases Registered; Delhi Leads with 6,115

Save

About 12,000 cases have been registered under the e-Zero FIR system launched in May 2025 by the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C). Delhi recorded the most (6,115), followed by Chandigarh.

Victims of cyber financial fraud can complain online or via helpline; the complaint becomes an e-Zero FIR at the designated e-Crime Police Station and must be converted to a regular FIR within three days. Section 173 of the BNSS, 2023 gives Zero FIRs statutory backing, so no police station can refuse a cognizable complaint on jurisdiction.
