DRDO has launched the Vikram VT 21 project to develop advanced armoured vehicles, with both wheeled and tracked platforms for the Indian Army's Futuristic Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICV). The vehicle offers armour protection against bullets, blasts and shrapnel along with high mobility across terrains. It carries a 30 mm crewless turret, a machine gun and Anti-Tank Guided Missiles, and is amphibious, using special propulsion to operate in water. About 65% of the system is made in India, supporting indigenous defence production.
