The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully carried out three flight trials of the Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missile from Chandipur in Odisha.
- VSHORADS is designed to engage aerial threats at very short ranges, forming the innermost layer of air defence.
- The series of three successful tests marks progress for the indigenous missile programme and India's self-reliance in defence technology.
- Chandipur, on the Odisha coast, is the location from which DRDO conducts many of its missile trials.
