The Indian Patent Office has granted a patent to DRDO and the University of Hyderabad for BAM-H24, a solid rocket propellant. BAM-H24 is an energetic compound rich in boron, hydrogen and nitrogen, meant for use as solid rocket fuel, a fuel additive or a burn-rate accelerator. It is chemically and thermally stable, does not absorb moisture, and is highly insensitive to impact and friction, making it safer to handle. Developed by researchers of the Advanced Centre of Research in High Energy Materials (ACRHEM) and the University, it is intended for defence propulsion and space launch vehicles.
