The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has carried out the first live jump using its indigenously developed Advanced High-Altitude Parachute (AHAP). The trial took place at Nyoma in Ladakh, a high-altitude location suited to testing equipment meant for operations in thin air. The successful jump marks a step towards self-reliance in specialised parachute systems for the armed forces, reducing dependence on imported equipment for high-altitude airborne missions.
