Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has inaugurated the Bhimmandali Eco Heritage Site in Sambalpur district of Odisha. Located in the Naktideul Forest Range, the site holds rock paintings and stone inscriptions more than 20,000 years old. The remains show evidence of early human settlement from the Old Stone Age through to the Neolithic period. The project seeks to conserve these prehistoric archaeological remains and promote eco-tourism in Odisha. Bhimmandali is associated with Bhima of the Mahabharata and includes worship sites of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati as Gupteswar.
