Delhi Police has withdrawn the status of Jantar Mantar as an officially designated site for protests in the capital. In its place, three alternative venues have been named: Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and the CBD Ground in East Delhi. The decision follows the recommendations of a committee set up by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Jantar Mantar, close to Parliament, has for many years been a central gathering point for demonstrations, so the change marks a significant shift in where protests in New Delhi can be held.
