Save

Delhi announced the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, starting 1 April 2026, to curb school dropouts among girls caused by financial strain. A total of ₹56,000 will be deposited in stages (at birth, Class 1, 6, 9, 10, 12 and after graduation or diploma) into an Aadhaar-linked account in the girl's name, growing to about ₹1 lakh with interest. The final sum is paid at age 21 or on completing graduation/diploma, whichever comes first. Eligible girls must be born in Delhi to families resident for at least three years with annual income up to ₹1 lakh; a maximum of two daughters per family qualify.
