Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh has been handed additional charge as Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The arrangement follows the end of Dr. Samir V. Kamat's tenure in these posts on 31 May 2026. Singh will hold both responsibilities until further orders, overseeing India's premier defence research agency alongside his duties at the Ministry of Defence.
