The Union Defence Minister commissioned the advanced stealth frigate INS Taragiri at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
INS Taragiri is the fourth stealth frigate built under Project 17A of the Indian Navy. Stealth frigates are designed to be harder for enemy radar to detect, which improves their survival in combat. The commissioning strengthens the Navy's surface fleet and reflects India's growing ability to build modern warships at home as part of its push for self-reliance in defence.
