CPA India Region Zone VII Conference 2026: Strengthening Democratic Governance

CPA Zone VII Conference 2026: A Vision for Inclusive Growth

The first conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region, Zone VII, concluded successfully in Goa on April 10, 2026. Inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, the three-day event served as a significant platform for regional parliamentary collaboration and democratic strengthening.

Thematic Focus and Deliberations

The conference witnessed the participation of 51 legislators from the newly restructured Zone VII, which comprises the states of Goa, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The discussions were centered around two pivotal themes:

  • Viksit Bharat 2047: The role of young legislators in driving India toward its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

  • Regional Priorities: Strategic focus on the Blue Economy, coastal connectivity, trade, tourism, and sustainable environmental practices within the western coastal states.

About the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA)

Founded in 1911 and headquartered in London, the CPA is one of the oldest established organizations in the Commonwealth. It aims to promote parliamentary democracy, provide a forum for cooperation, and encourage the exchange of best practices among legislatures across member nations.

The 2026 conference in Goa follows the 2024 restructuring of the CPA India Region into nine administrative zones, ensuring more localized and effective governance dialogues.

For TNPSC and competitive exam aspirants, this event is a crucial update under "Indian Polity" and "Regional Governance," highlighting the collaborative efforts between state legislatures to achieve national development goals.
