Chhattisgarh has passed the Ease of Doing Business Act 2026, which brings in a Risk-Based Approval System. With this, the State becomes the first in India to adopt a trust-based, comprehensive risk-based permission framework for industries and commercial establishments, aimed especially at easing compliance for MSMEs. The Act seeks to cut compliance burdens and simplify the procedures for setting up and running businesses. Businesses will be placed in risk categories based on their size and nature of operations: low-risk units will get simplified approvals, while higher-risk projects will still face technical scrutiny and inspections.
