The Government of India has officially revived the Qadian–Beas New Railway Line Project in the Majha region of Punjab, a project that had remained stalled for nearly a hundred years.
The line will link Qadian in Gurdaspur district with Beas in Amritsar district. It is being taken up under the Socially Desirable Rail Connectivity Programme, which supports rail links that serve a strong public and social need even where commercial returns may be limited.
