The Government has finished setting up 10,000 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) under the central sector scheme launched on 29 February 2020 to help small and marginal farmers pool production, marketing and processing. These FPOs include 21.96 lakh women farmers. SFAC, NABARD, NCDC and NAFED are among the implementing agencies. Members get financial aid, credit guarantees, market linkages and training. Evidence indicates FPO farmers obtain about 22% higher prices and cut marketing costs by around 31%.
