The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has notified the Vizhinjam International Transshipment Seaport in Kerala as a Customs Port, allowing it to handle Export-Import (EXIM) cargo.
The port began operating in July 2024. Until now it worked only as an international transshipment hub, where containers are moved from one ship to another. The new status lets traders ship goods directly in and out of India through Vizhinjam.
