The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) said the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) 2027–28 will run from April 2027 to March 2028, matching the financial year. Conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO) since 2021–22, ASUSE studies unincorporated non-agricultural establishments. The new round will, for the first time, record gender-specific constraints faced by women entrepreneurs, and will add questions on electricity sources and fixed-asset investment over a longer period. At the Ministry of Textiles' request, two questions will identify handloom, power-loom and handicraft units. Participating States can derive district-level estimates, while the January–March 2027 survey will keep the existing ASUSE 2026 schedule for continuity.
