The Assam government launched the Mukhya Mantrir Eti Koli Duti Paat Scheme in Tinsukia district, providing a one-time grant of Rs 5,000 to more than six lakh tea garden workers. It covers workers in 836 tea gardens across 27 districts and is aimed at supporting the tea tribe and indigenous communities. The launch coincides with Assam's tea industry completing about 200 years of commercial production.
