The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has signed a 70-year lease to establish India's first integrated Basmati and organic demonstration farm. The farm will come up at Tanda Bijaisi village in Pilibhit district, Uttar Pradesh. It will showcase how Basmati rice cultivation can be combined with organic farming methods, encouraging sustainable agriculture among farmers. APEDA functions under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry and promotes exports of agricultural and processed food products, including Basmati rice, which has a Geographical Indication tag.
