The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated India's first commercial sea shipment of Banganapalle mangoes, sending a 5-metric-tonne consignment to Singapore. Banganapalle, also called Benishan, is a premium mango variety from Andhra Pradesh. It received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2017. Sea shipment is cheaper than air freight and can widen export markets for Indian fruit.
